April 2-6, 2018

Welcome Falcons!
I hope you all had a well-rested weekend. I'm sure you all have plenty of stories to share, and you will have the opportunity to write about it in your journal. As usual, a few of you will have the opportunity to share with your peers.
This week you all will continue doing some research about Spring.  You all will be taking notes for your paper, and you will begin to write a paper based on Interesting Facts about Spring. We will be going over the outline, rough draft, revising and editing, and final draft format as a class. Make sure you stay focused so you know what must be done.
You are all extremely intelligent so there shouldn't be a reason why you cannot do the assignment.  I know every single one of you has the ability to do it so remain positive and give it all you've got. This way you can stay on top of things and not fall behind.
Attendance is really important. Remember that if you are absent one day, you miss out a lot.  Make sure to ask your teacher/s for any assignment you may be missing.  This way you do not feel a dent in your grade or fall behind. It's your responsibility to make sure that you are up to par.
Thank you,
Ms. Narvaez

March 26-30, 2017

Welcome Falcons!
I hope you all had a restful weekend because this week is going to be a short one and because of that, it also means we are going to be seriously busy.  We have a lot to cover, and we don't have time to waist.  Please make sure you go to sleep early, come to class prepared, and are ready to give it your 100%.
This week we will be looking over the Score Point Expectations for STAAR and the Writing Samples.  By looking at the samples, you will be able to obtain an idea of what it is that you are expected to write and how to go about doing it.  We will also have a class discussion based on the Sample Papers provided.  This way together we can develop a better understanding on what can be done to obtain that 4.
Students, please make sure you attend school daily.  Attendance is of  extreme importance.  If you are absent, please don't forget to ask the teachers for the missing assignments.  This way you don't feel a dent in your grade.  Remember that inevitable situations are completely understandable.

Thank you,
Ms. Narvaez

March 19-23, 2018

Welcome Falcons!
I hope every single one of you had a well-rested and enjoyable Spring Break.  I know we may not think it was long enough, but I must say it was a nice short break.  I must add that I'm looking forward to seeing all of you.
This week I will be having you all present your Spring Break News Report.  Please remember that this report should have been based on something you did during Spring Break.  You all should have typed it and added pictures, so I'm really looking forward to listening to your interesting reports.  We will be doing this the first 15 minutes of class for a couple of days and then moving on with our lesson which will consist of Revising and Editing strategies.  We will be working on these together, so make sure you do follow along.
Students, please remember that attendance is of extreme importance so do your best to be at school daily.  If you are absent, please make sure to ask the teachers for any assignment you might have missed.  This way you don't fall behind.  If you happen to have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank You,
Ms. Narvaez

March 12-16, 2018

Welcome Falcons!
I know that you all are on your Spring Break; however, I need to keep your brain busy.  The assignment that you will be given is similar to one that you have done before.  This time it will be a little bit different.  You will have to write about one particular thing you did this Spring Break, and you are to create it into a news report.  Oh! I also want you to type it and add pictures that are related to the event that you are writing about.
     For example:
Good morning... This is Ms. Narvaez reporting live from my Uncle Joe's Ranch.  Today we are waking up early to collect the chicken's eggs.  After this, we are heading to the kitchen to make breakfast for everyone, and yes, I do mean everyone.  I must add that we currently have 15 family members present.  My Aunt Mari and I will be making potatoes and egg for everyone while my grandmother makes homemade flour tortillas.  My Grandma Francisca makes the best tortillas ever!  They are absolutely delicious.  After breakfast, we will be cleaning the kitchen and heading out to see my Uncle's horse practice for the next race in San Antonio which will be held June 7, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.
Remember this is just a short example.  I'm sure you all can do better because you all are awesome!
Thank you,
Ms. Narvaez

March 5-9, 2018

Welcome Falcons!
Here we are beginning another week.  We have so much to do, so please make sure you go to bed early and get a good night rest.  I can guarantee you that if you go to sleep early, you will wake up fully energized and ready to go.
You all are extremely intelligent so please continue to give it your all.  Make sure to stay focused.  This way you can keep doing well in every class.
This week we are going to continue writing.  You all will be viewing a short video about Texas and select two things you would like to write about Texas and take notes.  I will also provide you with some time to do research about the two things you selected.
Remember that attendance is extremely important so try to be here everyday.  Inevitable situations are completely understandable; however, if you are out you need to make sure that you ask your teachers for the assignments that you may be missing.
Thank you,
Ms. Narvaez
